Viewing will now be held on Tuesday JULY 26, 2022 from 4:00 - 6:45pm followed by a 7:00pm service at the Funeral Home.
Graveside Service will now be held on Thursday JULY 28, 2022 at 11am at the Longwood Cemetery.
Myrlan “Gene” Dowell, 70 of Landenberg, PA passed away Thursday July 14, 2022 at his home in Landenberg.
He was the husband of Linda S. Cornett Dowell.
Born September 10, 1951 in West Grove, PA, he was the son of the late Myrlan Dowell and the late Eula Dowell Dowell.
Gene grew up in West Grove, PA. He attended the Rets Electronic Technical School and then went to work in the maintenance department at the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.
Gene was the co-owner of Dowell Mushrooms with his father located in Landenberg for many years.
Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, archery, pigeon shooting and playing cards with friends. He also enjoyed going to the NASCAR races in Dover, DE, drag racing in Cecil County, and old western movies. John Wayne was his hero. Gene most loved spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Lucas (Jennifer) Dowell, and daughter, Heather Dowell. Sister's Joanne Dowell, Barbara (Tony) DiFilippo, Diana (Frank) Bush and Cindy Dowell. Three grandchildren, Rylee, Devon and Kaiden and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons, George Nicholas Dowell, Matthew Steven Dowell, Myrlan Eugene Dowell, II and a sister Frances Ukloss.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 4:00 - 6:45 pm at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street West Chester, PA 19380; www.DellaFH.com; 610-696-1181, followed by his Funeral Service at 7:00 pm.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday July 28, 2022 at 11 am at the Longwood Cemetery 945 E. Baltimore Pike Kennett Square, PA 19348
